"Our group manages and administers the contracts and the rates that go along with our key carriers," Stratton says."And on a global level we do supplier management,addressing contract issues that escalate."
Logistics operations that are more regionally focused are managed by Goodyear's regional logistics procurement leads who are teamed with their operations colleagues to ensure they maintain the lowest total cost solution to provide service at the lowest cost based on our business realities,he says.
About six years ago,Goodyear also instituted a global logistics council that brings together key procurement and logistics operations people from around the world in advance of global logistics bidding projects to discuss strategy or address any regional issues that have been escalated.
